From hot Delhi to cool Leh

How can a city be as hot as Delhi? It was almost unbearable. Around 45° at day, not less than 30° at night. At least, all hotel rooms come with A/C. Which doesn't make it exactly easier to go out for sightseeing! So I basically spent my time in India's second biggest city enjoying the temperature of my hotel room, watching (and especially, hearing!!!) the renovation works next door, and waiting. For J. to arrive in Delhi, and for our connecting flight to Leh, way up in the cool north of India, the next day.
More specifically: the next day at 5:40 a.m. in the morning - which meant getting up at 3:30 a.m. Only to arrive at the airport in a rush and to discover that the flight is delayed 40 minutes. Never mind, that gives time for a breakfast coffee... And another, as the delay gets longer. And then a muffin. And then a complimentary breakfast from the airline as an apology (five minutes after the last muffin crumb - Murphy's law!). And another coffee. And then, five hours later, the announcement: the flight is cancelled, due to weather problems in the north, because... It's snowing too hard!!!
They scheduled a substitution flight for the day after, and when boarding was announced after a new two hours' waiting time, people cheered (because we all had had our doubts if we would really go out...). We did in the end,  and since our arrival yesterday the weather's been great. I am able to step out on the street again without being knocked out by a wall of heat! Ah, and happily enough, my acclimatization still seems to work: here, at 3500 meters, I'm perfectly fine. (And that's really great because I found a sooo good restaurant - and altitude sickness is normally associated with loss of appetite. I'm DEFINITELY still acclimatized.)
Weather is a big issue: in two days, my plan is to start for a new trekking trip - I just can't get enough! Leh is at the feet of the Indian Himalayas, and I'm intending to do another 10-12 day trip, this time through the Indus valley. Although the word "valley" doesn't mean it's not going to get high - there are new mountain summits waiting for me on the route!
