I'm spending my last days in India at Agra, home of the mythical Taj Mahal. Apart from the Taj, in Agra there's a fort, and... not much more of touristic interest. Even so, I'm staying here for the third day already and feeling quite comfortable. Mainly due to the nice guesthouse I'm staying in, and especially the rikscha driver, Sabir, who works for it. Sabir is not only honest, but a very rare Indian driver species: he does not speed, and he does not use his horn! In the beginning I suspected it was broken, but then he told me he doesn't like to use it. Indian! Rikscha driver! Doesn't like to use his horn! I'd have loved to take my whole India trip with him. And he's either especially honest or especially clever: he leaves the fare price to me, telling me to pay whatever seems appropriate to me at the end of my stay. (Which causes me quite distress as I have no idea about the normal fares here).
So here's what I did in Agra so far: I went in Sabir's rikscha to the Taj (it is as stunning as everybody says and I managed to be there early, before the crowds. When it started to get full, I stayed there and enjoyed watching the Indian tourists, lots of whom preferred to take pictures of me instead of the Taj).
I went in Sabir's rikscha to the train and bus stations in order to organize my travel plans for the next days.
Today I even went in Sabir's rikscha to a coffee shop with real espresso coffee, exclusively for having a cuppa and then going back.
This evening Sabir's rikscha is taking me to the riverbank to see the sunset, tomorrow morning it'll ride me to my train to Delhi and then it's getting serious: Rikscha paytime! Any suggestions anybody? Uh-oh...
